Well that's one whole month without smoking so well done me, even if I do say so myself!
This evening was strange, in that I had some really strong urges to smoke again for some reason. I wonder how long it takes for those urges to disappear completely? I suspect that they probably never really go away. Although I think that if you get one in say, 10 years time, you would instantly dismiss it and almost laugh to yourself. Whereas the ones you get after only a month are rather more difficult to ignore.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone else regarding this, especially if you have manged to stop smoking for a good deal longer than me.

Hello there from Greece, and sorry for my bad english. I keep reading your diary, I m about to quit and I think use chantix too, but Ive read all this about the drug that made me afraid of it! For now, i just use nicotine paches, and I have go down to one 25s a day (from the two and a half to use to smoke!). I watch your progress, and I have one eye up on the possible side effects. Did chantix do with nicotine paches? maybe it makes it a little easier..
Ok, keep on, you do it all right, and make all us want to walk the same way, too... for freedom, at last!
Hi Princess, it's so good to hear from you! Your English is very good, and much better than my Greek!
Try the patches first but if they don't work, try the Chantix. You should not use Chantix and patches at the same time.
Don't be afraid of the Chantix. For most people the side effects are very small, but if they were really bad you just stop taking it.
I have found Chantix to be by far the best method I have ever used.
Good luck and keep in touch to let us know how you get on!
Hey there I'm from Western Australia and I've been watching your blog for the past couple of weeks. It keeps me going. I've been on the patches now for 9 days, I was about a 30 a day smoker for the past 25 years. I'm doing OK, get a little irritated every now and then but I guess that's normal (just feel like something is missing all the time). I too wonder what it will be like in the years to come - will we ALWAYS ALWAYS want a cigarette??? I realise that the urge will not be as strong but every ex smoker that I talk to still says "Oh I could light up tomorrow". I met someone the other day who said if one cigarette every passed her lips she would be a packet a day smoker again instantly (I guess in reality that's exactly how I would be so I know I can never ever have another one). Don't stop writing, it's very inspiring. Good Luck.
Hi Sue, it's so good to hear from you too! Wow - USA, Greece, Australia, and I'm from the UK! Isn't this internet thing just so incredible! It will never cease to amaze me.
It's really strange what you've said, because I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing this evening before I read your comment.
I normally do my blog posts for the day on the following day, so tomorrow being Wednesday I will write Tuesday's (today's) tomorrow if you see what I mean. I was driving home from a football match about an hour ago and I thought to myself "there's something missing, no treats when I get home. I'll have to write about that in my blog tomorrow". So wait and see, and you'll see something like that for Tuesday's entry!
Please do keep in touch, it's so inspiring to me as well to know that people are reading and that it's helping them!
