Not too bad today, apart from a few pangs in the evening. I always used to have a couple as the last thing I did just before I went to bed, a strange habit I know. I'm still finding it a bit difficult breaking that habit and I find myself thinking "Oh, I'll just go to bed then" and it feels a bit empty.
Soon, I might turn this blog into a weekly, rather than daily event. The reason is that I want to start thinking about smoking less and less, but doing this daily forces me to think about it every day at least once. What do you think? Shall I carry on daily for a while? I'm more than happy to continue that way if it's helping other people.

Hey Pete I used to do the same thing before going to bed, like the last cig. was a "night cap" of sorts. Amazing just how many triggers there are out there. I was having a little glass of some fine liquor last night with a friend that was smoking. It took all I had to not ask him for a cigarette. I even was tempted to lift one from his pack when he went to the other room for a few moments.
Pretty hideous, even after a month of smoking sobriety. What the hell is it about liquor that just makes your mind and body scream for a smoke? Anyways, I got over it remembering the affirmation "I am not going to smoke today!". Such a simple and yet so powerful of a statement that gathers strength with each passing day. Now, it has taken on a matter of fact tone to it for me. Like, of course I am not going to smoke today, and just get on with the numerous things that deserve my full attention.
I would like to see you finish a full month of daily blogging before you cut back some. I think there are still some revelations to come in the next 10 days or so. But, the choice is yours. If you feel more comfortable being away from the thoughts of smoking, then by all means you know what is best for you. I just feel it is cathardic to identify the ups as well as downs. Kind of makes you an expert on quitting! And it is of great help to others that they can relate to what you are going through.
Whatever you do, keep up the good work. It is well worth it, and indeed inspirational and motivational.
Well done to you not giving in. It must have been a very tempting moment. I like your affirmation and I've used it a couple of times myself. You're right, it's simple yet very effective. Thanks for that!
