Stop Smoking Day 29 - Saturday February 9th 2008

Oops, missed another day of blogging yesterday, sorry about that.

I'm pleased to say that I've been feeling much much better over the last couple of days. I've come to the conclusion that my depression was simply a normal process in stopping smoking. A bit like losing a girlfriend I suppose (an anology that I've mentioned before). However, this girlfriend was trying to kill me!

Looking forward to tomorrow, as Sundays always seem to be good days for me. I'm really convinced that I've finally "cracked it" and I will never smoke again. However, I must be careful not to get too complacent, as I know how easy it is to slip up.

Saved so far £239.25

Hey,
Just stopped in from across "the pond" after seeing your hub page. Was curious how you did. 6 months for me.
Chantix was a lifesaver, as I thought nothing would help me (31 years smoking and 2 packs/day for last 20).
No desire any longer and the thought of lighting up is easily pushed aside now.
Good Health to You!

Hey,
Thanks for dropping by. Well done to you, I'm hoping to achieve the same!

Can I just ask you how long you took the Chantix for?

Hi,

Sure. I took it for only 2 months (I felt I was ready to go it alone and I don't like taking anything other than viatamins). As a side note, I actually smoked for the first 10 days before being done with smoking. My doctor said 5-7 days was normal.
I threw up a hubpage that kind of give a progression of what I went through.

Last part of that URL address is "CHANTIX"

That's interesting because the recommendation on the instructions that came with the drug is 12 weeks, and a possible further 12 weeks at the discretion of your doctor. I've never been able to work that one out. If the drug is supposed to stop your nicotine cravings, why is it necessary to take it for so long?

I actually smoked for the first 12 days. Again, the instructions that came with it said to stop between day 8 and day 14. It seems like everyone tells us something different!
